Decarbonization in industry refers to reducing greenhouse gas emissions across manufacturing, processing, energy use, logistics, and supply chains. This can involve acquiring cleaner technologies, improving energy efficiency, shifting fuel sources, redesigning operations, or forming strategic partnerships. In an M&A context, it often means using acquisitions or joint ventures to accelerate capability building faster than organic development alone.
